Chris West Blog - European tour and in the studio
November 24, 2008

Chris West, on tour, in Bordeaux, France
Hello Friends,
I’m currently in Europe (Germany) on tour with The Dynamites, and things are going great! We’ve played 4 shows so far, 3 in Germany and 1 in London (at the legendary Jazz Café) and they have all been incredible!!! Great crowds, great venues, great food, etc. I am meeting some wonderful people and making new friends as well as running into some old friends from high school (hey Kinzli). I will be here until Dec. 1, performing in Germany, UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, and Switzerland. For more details on what cities and venues be sure to check the calendar section.
I also wanted to let everyone know about my new project I’m working on. I’ve been in the studio for the past several months working on my newest album. This project is mostly straight ahead(ish) jazz, slightly different from my first project, Jazzmanic, in that it is a little less funky and a little more jazzy. I’m very excited about this project. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and I’m finally making it happen. I will be finishing recording in December and January, and plan on releasing it shortly after. Keep an eye and ear open and I’ll continue to update everyone on my progress. And again, you can always get the latest news here at www.jazzmanic.com. You can also sign up for my newsletter and we will send out regular updates.
Thanks for keeping up and I look forward to seeing everyone when I return.
Chris
gschmitt Blog - New song, Daze, almost ready
November 24, 2008
Hey everybody. Welcome to my blog. Thanks for checking in.
It’s been a pretty busy week here for me. I’ve been putting the finishing touches on a song idea I’ve had bouncing around my head and guitar fretboard for a little while now. I get excited every time I finish a song. I start many songs and wait for the inspiration to come around and get them done. I don’t know how other songwriters do it, but my system’s been set in place from years of habit. I don’t exactly LOVE the way I work but despite my efforts, I can’t seem to do it any other way….I guess if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Currently, I have a number of 3/4-done new song projects sitting on my computer desktop; glaring at me and begging to be finished…
Anyway, I’m psyched about this one. It’s called Daze and it’s a pretty whimsical tune about a guy [read: me] who stays a child at heart. The first line is ”I may be livin’ in a daze, but baby there are days I think about you all the time.” I’m going to be recording a quick demo of it pretty soon and maybe a video clip of it as well. I think you’re going to enjoy this one. I definitely had fun writing it. Be on the lookout.
Have a great week. Feel free to keep in touch with me in here. I dig getting messages and comments from you guys. Also, please subscribe to my newsletter so I can keep in touch with you.
Take it easy,
Greg
gschmitt - Gone - Video 2
November 24, 2008
In this video, gschmitt gives a sneak peek performance of his new, unreleased song Gone.
Gone - written by gschmitt
Verse 1:
Have I been – less than – honorable with you?
And it’s likely – you’ll ask – for something I cannot do
And I tend to lose my balance, tie my tongue and go astray, it’s true,
But have I been – less than – honest, love?
Chorus:
Oh, and I watch it slipping away – with every word that you say
And it feels like stopping the rain – with my own two hands
Oh, and at some point I must concede – that I might not be what you need
There’s only so much something can bleed – and when it’s gone, it’s gone
Verse 2:
And you might be – wondering – what has happened to me
It seems we’re – far from – who you remembered us to be
And your hero lost his sword, pulled the cord, took refuge cowardly
‘cause some flowers – need watering – constantly
Verse 3:
Oh, and I watch it slipping away – with every word that you say
And it feels like stopping the rain – with my own two hands
Oh, and at some point I must concede – that I might not be what you need
There’s only so much something can bleed
Bridge:
Is there part of this that will not sit right?
Will a time soon come that you see the light?
Do you still expect me close by your side
When you just keep pushing?
Chorus:
Oh, and I watch it slipping away – with every word that you say
And it feels like stopping the rain – with my own two hands
Oh, and at some point I must concede – that I might not be what you need
There’s only so much something can bleed – before it’s gone - and when it’s gone, it’s gone
