Holiday Cheer Christmas Party/Dance to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Schnecksville Area

Christmas is just around the corner. That means it’s time to PARTY!!! And there is no better way to celebrate the giving season than by giving to a great cause!

Valerie Borman will be hosting a benefit dance/party for the Relay For Life of Schnecksville Area on Friday, December 10th at the Schnecksville Fire Co. Social Hall. Join her in the festivities from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The evening features live music, including Valerie Borman, the members of The Lehigh Valley’s Ultimate Party Band, The Starlites, their good friend from Nashville, Tom Williamson, and possibly some surprise guests! (You will have to be there to find out who they are!) There will also be fun for the whole family with the world-famous Nasty Christmas Shopping Game hosted by ACS Staff Partner, Wendy Stickler. The Relay For Life teams will be offering additional food and fundraisers.

Tickets are available in advance at discount rates online HERE. Tickets will also be available at the door during the event at regular price. The ticket price includes soda/mixers, snacks and the aforementioned FUN!! This is a family event, so bring your kids, friends, neighbors and anyone who wants to have a great time and help out the American Cancer Society! This is also a BYOB event – the PLCB won’t allow the serving of any alcohol – so please BRING YOUR OWN!

A note from Valerie: I began volunteering for the ACS because I have watched many friends and family members battle this disease. I want to be on the front-line to help find a cure. Cancer is a disease that affects EVERYONE. We all know someone – a friend, a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor – who is a Cancer Survivor. (If you have lived ONE DAY with cancer – you are a SURVIVOR!!) Please help me to celebrate our Survivors and the holiday season this year. -Valerie

Valerie Borman Blog – My Thanksgiving

November 12, 2010

It’s hard to believe that it is November, with Thanksgiving just around the corner, as I am sitting here outside writing this. The temperature is 71 degrees, the sun is shining and I want to go out and play! But first, I’ve got a few things to finish.

So far this month, I’ve been taking more time for songwriting. I am very pleased to have finished the lyrics of a song I’ve been writing for our Veterans – now, I need to finish the music!! It’s so very exciting for me to be engaging in the creative process. As a singer, I’ve always envied songwriters – not that I would ever trade my vocal talent. But to CREATE the music and lyrics is truly AWESOME. Every time I hear a song like “Moments” or “In Color” I get goosebumps. I want to write THOSE songs!!! For now, I’ll write my songs.

I’m still riding the high that I felt after performing in PA last month and reconnecting with friends, family and NHS alumni. (Yes, I’ve been searching you all out on Facebook!!) So I’ve been wishing I could have it happen again. What’s the best way to get everyone back together?? I’m going to perform in PA again!! Keep reading!

Those of you who know me know that I see my life as a means to give back, pay it forward… however you term it, I believe that I live – and sing! – to serve. Whatever performance I schedule for myself I would prefer to be of benefit to someone or some organization. Not having had the opportunity to volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life this past year, I realized I had my cause. So, this month I will be preparing for a Christmas Party Dance to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Schnecksville. The performance will take place on Friday, December 10th from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. – mark your calendars!! As soon as the details are available – they will be posted.

Thanksgiving is, as I said, just around the corner. I am, as always, thankful. However, I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in November; I celebrate it every day. My life is blessed beyond belief. I have a wonderful family, amazing friends, and talent/career opportunities that very few can claim. My day, every day, begins and ends with my giving thanks for each and every blessing in my life. And today, I want you to know that YOU are counted among my blessings. Thank you always for your support, friendship and love. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Jeff Arrandale Blog – Busy, busy, busy

November 11, 2010

“Busy, busy, busy ….” You remember the evil magician in Frosty the Snowman. That was his mantra in the first part of the show as he was running around with his head cut off. It’s been like that for me for the last month or so, thus the lateness of this post.

Lots of performances including another visit with the men of Live from the Path internet radio show and with some amazing college student worshipers from Zambia, Africa. When you throw in the preparations for the trip to SE Asia, you have “busy, busy, busy.”

I joined the guys from Live From The Path on Monday, October 04 for a full two hours and got to perform three songs: Race, Not Here for Me, and a request for I Can Feel You Watchin’. You can check out some of my performances on Live From The Path on my Video page HERE. You can get links to the podcasts I was a part of and find out more about Live From The Path at www.livefromthepath.org.

Malachi 1:11 – My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to the place where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord Almighty.

I saw that verse lived out on Sunday night, October 10, as I performed with Certainty in support of a group of students from Zambia, Africa. This group came to the States to meet supporters who helped fund and build their brand new college over the last 5-10 years. It’s the first group of students to go through the school whose mission is to raise up and train native pastors that will spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in that poor country.

After we opened and got the place jumpin’ a bit, the Zambians gave an excellent a cappella performance that was high in energy. The name of the Lord was lifted high that night, and it is apparent that His name will be great among the nations and He will be praised from where the sun rises to where it sets.

Preparations for the trip to southeast Asia have gone well. As a group we’ve rehearsed and met regularly to pray, to have some language instruction, and to be somewhat indoctrinated into the culture, government posture to what we are doing, and what we can expect day-to-day during the trip. We’ve also sampled food that will be similar to what we might be eating while we are gone. This worries me a bit as I’m used to a pretty bland diet of meat and potatoes, but I can surely tough it out for 10 days. As I write this I’m packing and going through final spiritual and physical preparations. If you think of it, prayer needs include:

• Unity amongst the group I’ll be performing with
• For God’s hand on the flights and connections to the country. In all, the flight time totals 22 hours over two days with three connections– both to and from (that’ll be a minor miracle in itself)
• For cohesiveness with the in-country business we’ll be performing in support of
• For food, lodging, health, rest, and personal needs (we’ll be in rural districts with little to no sanitation or clean water)
• For family that will be at home
• And most of all, that the name of Jesus will be worshiped in this place and that we will trust God fully. As was the case in the Old Testament, we will be going before God’s army in what really is a spiritual battle.

One thing I know for sure is that is God will go before us and will be our rear guard as well. Look for a post-trip report from the trip in my next blog.

Lastly, upon my return, the performance schedule will be minimal because I hope to spend a little time doing some guitar-only demos. This will help me catalog songs and start to put some thought around what I hope is a future recording project.

That’s all for now. Thanks for checking in!

Jeff
