About Jon Harrod
Jon Harrod is a singer, songwriter, musician from Louisville, KY. After spending the last decade performing and writing with various rock bands throughout middle America, Jon has ventured out on his own as a solo artist.
Harrod recently signed with Nashville, TN based Century Music Group, whom he had worked with previously in producing tracks for one of his previous bands. “The focus now is on Jon Harrod, and only Jon Harrod.” remarked a CMG representative. Harrod started working on his solo career in early 2008, writing and self producing over fifteen tracks of original music for a demo album, playing all of the instruments himself. This process helped him hone his skills to find his own unique voice in today’s ever changing music scene, as well as attract the attention of CMG. Currently, Harrod is in pre-production for his first professionally produced solo album. CMG will be assisting in various aspects of Harrod’s career including administration, marketing, and promotion.
Harrod began his musical trek at the age of 13 when he learned guitar on his father’s old full body Fender acoustic guitar. “I can still remember the edge of that guitar grinding into my chest and leaving a red mark, my arms and fingers aching after practicing for hours.”, he said. Early on, he drew from a diverse pool of influences including Kansas, Metallica, The Beatles, The Mama’s and Papa’s, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead.
One of Harrod’s early ventures included a fledgling cover band in high school where he performed as the singer and rhythm guitarist. Years later, another Harrod group, Joshua’s Window, was asked to open for multi-platinum Louisville band, Days of The New, on the opening leg of their Midwest tour. The group played for crowds of up to 20,000 fans during the successful tour. It was after this tour that the band broke up, reformed under another name, and then split again, leaving Harrod at a crossroads in his career. After considerable deliberation, songwriting sessions, and various attempts at putting together yet another group, Harrod decided his best option was to finally embark on his solo career.
Harrod is currently focusing on songwriting and performing live on a regional basis. Be sure to keep up with Jon Harrod through his new website, www.JonHarrod.com, in anticipation of his new upcoming solo album to be released in the near future.
